MICROSHIELD® 4 Chlorhexidine Surgical Handwash is an antiseptic skin cleanser formulated to be used as a preoperative body wash. Recommended by health care professionals and clinicians across Australia and New Zealand, this efficacious formulation contains 4% Chlorhexidine Gluconate as the active ingredient to effectively reduce germs and bacteria on the skin.
Chlorhexidine Gluconate provides rapid, broad-spectrum antimicrobial activity against a wide range of bacteria and continues to work after application due to its residual long lasting effect on the skin. Showering with a Chlorhexidine based preoperative body wash prior to surgery or medical procedure assists to minimise the bacterial load on the skin, support infection prevention measures and improve overall surgical preparation.

Use undiluted. If using as a hand wash, wet hands. Apply MICROSHIELD® 4 to the skin and rub gently over all the surfaces of the hands including the spaces between the fingers. Rinse well and dry hands.
For preoperative body washing, wet skin and apply MICROSHIELD® 4 to a clean wash cloth or directly onto skin and work into a light lather all over the body – starting from the neck down. Pay extra attention to the armpits, genitals, buttocks and skin folds. Leave on skin for at least 1 minute, before thoroughly rinsing off. Dry with a fresh clean towel and wear clean clothes.
